Specs: WinXP, Intel/128

I have WinXP and Win2K. Win has their own VPN with something called PTPP, but when I read stuff on the net, they always talk about IPSEC and I have to have a seperate device. Which is better, PTPP that you get with Microsoft, or buy a device with IPSEC?

PPTP is the easyiest to setup, but IPSec is way more secured and harder to setup.

IPSec is by far the preferred choice Harley. You'll find a lot of support and products available for it. If your interested send me an email.

I use both:

If I was connecting two or more offices together , I would us IPSec with 3des, it would give more security between the 2 points.

Now if I just wanted someone from the road and they need a quick file, I would use PPTP.
PPTP client comes with all windows OS’s for free and It would be very easy to setup and walk someone thru and setting-up the pptp client, but I would not use it to connect two offices together.

Just remember, this is my point of view.
