Hello every1!!
OK...I'm having a problem with MSN Messenger and I can't fix it!! :(
Well, the problem is that each time I try 2 log in (with any account) it shows me the green guys moving in a circle, but then it shows me an empty Online contact list and it freezes!! :|
That happened 2 me on all the machines listed above....
I tried disabling firewalls, antivirus, PeerGuardian, none worked!! :'(
I also tried removing MSN Messenger...I removed it from Add/Remove Programs, then deleted the folder, then all the registry entries that contained "MSN Messenger" in their names...then reinstalled it...IT WORKED!! :D but after 2 logins it starts again...:@:@
How can I fix this??
I looked Google and read many forum threads...none worked!! :(
REMEMBER: I am having this problem on all my 4 PC's!! and I ran Windows Update on all of them (except 1) and downloaded SP2 on my WinXP laptop, still don't work!! :@
Any ideas??
Thank u!! ;)

when you connected to MSN's server your contacts online status is downloaded, if the port used for this is blocked then your dead

if its on all PC's then its your internet access point which you said was router i think...

by the way, if you have a router you dont need firewalls on PC's

Well, I disagree with that. A router is geat for inbound protection but does nothing for outbound protection. You can have a trojan in control of your machine sending out all kinds of packets and without a firewall blocking outbound connections, you would never know it.

But don't have two firewalls running at the same time. Check if the XP firewall is running and turn it off it you are running the other firewall.

I have 3 firewalls running at the sme time, and everything works fine. I use my router firewall, the windows xp firewall, and norton internet security firewall.

Ohh, nvm...I'm using it now and it's ligging in correctly!! ;)
But anyways...I got many firewalls...look:
PC#1 - Norton Internet Security
PC#2 - Windows Firewall
PC#3 - Sygate Personal Firewall
PC#4 - None...:(
All my PC's use the router and a DSL modem, which has firewall also...:D:D
And I also got PeerGuardian...(is that a firewall or what??)
Thanx!! ;)
