There is not much difference in the cheap catagory. Go with the rj45s on the side you need it. An uplink port with xover switch or xover port is handy. Pretty lights and size can be a factor. Get a few extra ports.

Linksys 5 port switch. It has 4 straight through ports and 1 uplink (crossover) port. Cost around $30.

Or get the switch kit from Linksys...4 port switch w/uplink, 2 NICs, 2 15' cables, and sygate software for 70-80 US dollars.
