What speed PCI card do I need?

I am having to replace the network adapter on a desktop machine. The other adapter was integrated on the motherbard. Dell was going to send a replacement PCI adapter, but since the warranty has expired, it was going to cost $54. The card they were going to send has a 10/10/1000 Mbps speed. I have found cheaper cards at various retail locations but those with significant price difference are only 10/100Mbps. I have a DSL connection and was wondering if that extra 1000Mbps is needed since my connection shows as a 100Mbps connection.
Will this 100Mbps ever be faster and if so will a 10/100Mbps PCI card limit this additional speed?
I have an IBM Thinkpad T41 with Windows XP Professional OS.

The 10/100 card will be more than ample for you connection speeds. Don't worry about the future and a network card. You can buy a 10/100 card for $5 US plus shipping.
