I have a Westell 7500 router/modem. I am trying to set up a wireless IP security camera at a vacation house. I want to see what is going on when we are not there - so I need remote access. I set up a DNS updating but it is not updating the IP address (which always changes). Does anyone know if this router has built in software for Dynamic DNS addressing?? Will it update? It does not seem to be doing it and I am about to kill myself!! I have been working on this for almost 8 weeks trying to get this stupid camera set up. It works fine, as long as the IP does not change. I don't really want to pay $25-$50/month for a Static IP. This should be able to do it. Please help!
I will call DynDNS Monday to see about getting the TSIG - if that will help. Then I am going to call Fairpoint (internet provider) to see if I can get a deal on the static IP since their router should be updating it automatically. If their equipment doesn't do what it is supposed to do they should give me the static IP for free! We shall see what happens! This is so frustrating - I cannot even tell you.
