my friend says that i dont need a cd to use a router but the thing is i want to configure my router so i can run gaming servers like linksys does

You friend is right, you dont need a CD, just the right IP address to get into the configuration. 192.168.1.1 might not neceserily be the rigth one.

To find the right address set the router to factory defaults, you never know what the pervious owner might have done. That should enable DHCP and put IP address and passwords back to there defaults..

Go to a command prompy and type ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew.

When its done do ipconfig /all. Look at the default gateway address. That is the IP address you need to get into the router. The default user name and paswword should be blank.

192.168.1.1 is the correct IP for that modem.

OP didn't state what happens when the ip is entered into the browser.

The right one by default but the previouse user could have changed it. Only way to be certain is a factory reset.
