I have a westel 327w dsl modem/router that has been used on Verizon services. I want to noe use it on Bellsouth Fastaccess service, but the firmware that comes on the same modem from Bellsouth is different. When I connect the modem to the Bellsouth DSL line I get a good DSL indicator, but never get an internet signal. Bellsouth tech told me that there were probably settings that were different between the two services, but wouldn't be more specific than that. I found a couple on my own and changed them, but apparently didn't change all the right ones. I'm just not sure what to do now. I tried to find a firmware update but had no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Westell modems have a web interface just like Linksys routers. You said you have already made some changes. Did you do it by connecting the PC directly to the modem and connecting through the browser? If not, that's what you need to do. I forget the default passwds for westell but I'm sure you can find them. Call Bell South tech support for the details on the settings for that modem.

Yes, I did make the changes through the web interface, and I have contacted Bellsouth to establish the settings. Their tech support people don't seem to have the knowledge, or desire, required to tell me what the setting should be. I got some of the settings, but not enough to make it work.
