Weird pacman siren opening Firefox browser

May 21, 2010 at 10:39:47
Specs: Windows XP
Hey, I opened firefox this morning, and when it opened, some kind of pacman game sound started, it was followed by a neverending, annoying siren that wouldnt go away. I figured it was a plugin that was causing it, and eventually found out it was the shockwave flash plugin. I need this plugin enabled for obvious reasons, but when its enabled, the pacman siren keeps playing. Anybody that can help me resolve this would be a big help, as I use my internet constantly.

I guess it starts when you open

That`s because it`s PAC-MAN`s 30th birthday...just navigate away from Google and it should stop...

Google is your friend

Keyboard not present, press F1 to continue...

I am getting that too, but the thing is, it happens only in firefox (not chrome or IE) and my home page is bing. It doesn't matter what site I go to, i still have that same problem.

Edit: I figure out what the problem is for me, once I disabled cool preview in firefox, it fixed it.

Same siren sounds. Stops when I close firefox. Starts again when reopen firefox. Thought it was a virus. Scanned with three different AVs and same problem. Did registry check. Same thing. Uninstalled and reinstalled firefox. Siren again
Changed home page to spanish msn. Same thing. Closed firefox and opened IE.
Got fed up and switched off computer for about half hour.
Restarted and did search on IE for problem, restarted firefox and siren did not start. Sent this reply.
