I am working on a non-standered networked house. All the plates and everything has been setup but the idiot who put everything together used the following colour scheem in the non-powered base hub in the basement...

from left to right

Brown, W. Brown, Green, W. Green, Orange, W. Orange, Blue, W. Blue

The wall plates are done as follows

Blue, W. Blue, W. Brown, Brown, W. Orange, Orange, W. Green, Green.

However it may be the otherway (I cant tell cause it is 4 wires on each side, not 8 accross)

Green, W. Green, Orange, W. Orange, Brown, W. Brown, W. Blue, Blue

Now the magic question is does any of this make scene? I need to make the wire for the house and I have treid standered Ethernet Wire as well as Crossovers. Non of which seem to work. So I need to know how to make the wire based on the color. Does anyone have any idea what combo I need for the wire so that it will work for the house to be networked?

OR

Should I go and just get it all rewired completly so that it is done in Standered?

ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED

The wiring "may" have been for Token Ring.

As long as it is properly paired you can use
them as is. I had a similar site. I just
made custom jumper cables to connect from
computer to wall-plate.

It was a lot cheaper than re-doing the wall
plates I had about 200 cables in the wall-
both ends. Would had to replace all the
wall plates they were crimped with a locking
cover.

Was it the same color combo? What did you make them?

This one allows me to open up the wall-plate, which is why it may be easier to go normal... the only thing is I dont have the patients to do it nor do I want to do my first time doing it on this guys house (I make wires and stuff by my self, but I always have had trouble with wall plates until someone showed me what I was doing wrong)...

Wall Plates are commonly wired by pairs
either adjacent or oposite to make it easier
to connect.

What you have to do is to check if the
connectors are wired straight through.
That is pin 1 to pin 1 ... pin 8 to pin 8.

Then check which are the pairs.

My adapter ended up being symmetric. Either
end could be plugged to the wall.

Just make a diagram

1 wh/or TD+ 1 1 ?
2 or TD- 2 2 ?
3 wh/gr RX+ 3 3 ?
4 bl 4 4 ?
5 bl/wh RX- 5 5 ?
6 gr 6 6 ?
7 br/wh 7 7 ?
8 br 8 8 ?
