Hello!
I have an WebSTAR DPC2100 and want to go with two computers simultaniously to the internet. One connected via USB one via ethernet.
With Ethernet it works fine on both pcs. With USB it does not on both.

PC1 is Winxp servicepack 2.
PC2 is Win98 se.

I want to run usb on the Winxp so i will concentrate on PC1.
I installed the Modem properly. It installed a Lan connection which said it had problems getting the net adress.

My computer runs on german language, so i will translate briefly what error messages it gives out:
"There probapbly exists no connection to the internet or other networkressouces. The problem occurred because the network did not asign it a no network adress".

I renewed the ip adress via ipconfig. But got the error massage: "there can be established no connection to the DHCP Server".

Thank you in advance for any answer!
Uli

ok, so you enabled Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) on the XP pc, correct?
What shows when you run an IPCONFIG /ALL. You said you renewed the IP address, do you mean you TRIED to renew but it failed?

It should show the address you get from your ISP via the cable modem, and the internal IP address allocated by the the DHCP function of ICS.
If it works ok on ethernet but not on USB, then maybe your USB ports are not functioning properly. Download the latest USB drivers for you hardware, as well as any firmware updates for you motherboard. Do you have any other USB devices you can connect to for a test of the USB?
You can go here to update your drivers:

No I didn't activate ics. I don't want to share the internet connection. The basic problem is just that neither of the pcs works with the modem when connected over usb.

I use 5 different USB and USB 2 devices. USB works perfectly with them.

I will try to update my usb drivers anyway.

I can't run the the renew process at the moment, but as i remember it failed because of "there can be established no connection to the DHCP Server".
At least i eather had no ip adress after the renewal or 0.0.0.0.
