Hi all
I have a very annoying problem – I have quite a smart Logitech Webcam and have recently downloaded Yawcam from Yawcam.com in the hope of broadcasting a live stream, the box saying Enable UPNP is checked.
I am on Virgin Broadband and a wireless network through a Belkin Router F5D7231-4 supporting UPNP and is enabled in my router settings – I have tried lots of things but I still cannot get the stream to seen on the internet.
Please help, I have contacted virgin (ISP) and they said that the ports that it’s using (8080 for HTTP and 8081 for stream) are not blocked and windows firewall is not blocking the program itself either. It’s bizarre!
Thanks in advance
Paul

All the requirements are listed there ^^^^
Make sure that Java and DirectX are up to date, etc.....

Thanks but I looked there before I came here - tried all that :o(

How are you testing it? Are you testing it from another machine on your LAN or from a remote location?
Does yawcam require IIS or Apache to run?

It has an option where as it gives you the URL to the stream eg: 81.100.90.99:8081 where the IP is the public address and the 8081 is the port but it says page cannot be displayed. Tested on another PC on the network..
It has a built-in server.

Test it using the internal IP
Example: 192.168.1.4:8081It could be that port forwarding on the router needs to be tweaked.

Great thanks - I'll try later as I'll be home then. I actually really wanted to host the stream on my own website but that's another story!

You still maybe able to do that. I just thought that testing it locally might be a good start.

Yep that works - i'm changing the port numbers but it still will not let me get in from outside lol
I change the port numbers on the webcam software and then on the router.

Look at the port forwarding documentation for your router. If it's working locally, the problem has to be there unless your ISP lied about the ports not being blocked.

You're right, i've tried everything now, i must download the documentation! i let you know
Thanks!

I phoned my ISP and they won't help as it is a Belkin router - they also told me that they issue a new IP address every time the Modem is restarted - funny that because I'vehad the same IP for ages even after restarting!
Documentation just states everything that I have already done! lol

Was never my IP address only an example, you have an idea?

Then I can't test it from here if that's not it. So, why don't you port scan your own IP address from a friend's PC and see what ports are opened.

If I posted it here, would that mean I'm opening myself upto being hacked? (not by you lol) because i'd post it anyway

That's why I suggested that you port scan the IP yourself. That way you won't have a barrage of attacks. :)

Sorry - was the router in the end - load of rubbish! Thanks :o)
