I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router, and from time to time my connection sucks; even the computer that is hard-wired to it. I have had the cable company come out to check things. They tell me the problem is in the router, and that there is a way to "get inside it and speed it up." Any suggestions?

You can log in to the router by opening a browser and entering in the address bar the ip address of the router. It will probably prompt you for a user name password combo and if you haven't changed the defaults i believe linksys sets the username to remain blank, and the password to be admin As far as speeding it up, if your wired computer goes on the fritz, I would honestly doubt it is the router. The router is either going to work, or not work. I have never heard of a router slowing things down then speeding them back up in a home environment with such little traffic. In terms of the cable company, when your internet goes down, check your modem and make sure all status lights are operating correctly. From what you say I would suspect that either your signal is dropping out on you and then resynching, or it is something on your ISP's end that you can't change, only put up with. Hope that helps.
