Alright, here is the senerio. I have a WAN IP of 67.175.87.130. I want to change it. But I am on an apple network, with an Airport Extreme. Im not sure If I can just call comcast to change it. Will they just change my regular IP that goes through my cable modem, and not the WAN IP that my router gets from somewhere?
Im lost, help. Also I understand how to get into my router settings also. But don't tell me to go in there and mannuelly set it, bc it dosent work.
Thanks in Advance.

You can't change it. Only comcast can. Why do you thing changing it will solve a issue for you?
Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

The router's WAN IP and the IP that comcast assigns you through your modem are the same thing. You can't just change that. If you have dynamic, you have to wait for a new IP (could take days...could take months), or if you have static, you can probably call the office and get it changed.

They are not the same.
My WAN IP is found when I check www.checkmyip.com and other sites similar to that, or I just simply go through the router. So okay? Then I disconnect my router and go straight cable modem check my IP and its different.
Thus, I do not think they are one of the same.

be cautious on routers since these manufacturer are adding special features such that hackers who may intend to enter into your network are fooled by the ip they get from the router such that they could not really enter into your network. maybe its a firewall as they say. for as long as the router ia able to connect to your wan ip the router manages to assign ips through a dhcp protocol. ip s are assigned automatically.but if your not with windows os you may need to configure the dhcp table. to set the ip sequence.
