w2k pro can't find 2 wxp pro on a same wrkgrp

August 26, 2011 at 06:36:39
Specs: Windows XP Pro / Window 2000 Pro
w2k pro doesn't seem to find any other pcs on the same workgroup where both the two wxp pros are in. The two wxps seem to work perfectly just fine, they can see each other and share files unlike w2k it only can see itself on the entire computers near me. All are desktop pcs connected on a D-Link router. Can anyone give me some suggestions or instruct me how since i am not that good in networking.

Can the XP boxes ping the 2k computer and vice versa? If not, then you have a problem with the TCP/IP settings.

If so, check to ensure the Win2k computer is using the exact same workgroup name as the XP computers.

It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.

review the xp machine firewalls. Sounds like they are blocking access for the w2k machine
