Hello all, I am trying to set up a point to point VPN between two pfsense boxes. one of the problems is that i don't know how to subnet it. What i was thinking was having two subnets 172.16.1.x/24 and 172.16.2.x/24, one for each side of the VPN. However, the whole point for the VPN would be to have Xbox 360s on each end being able to auto-discover each other. I'm not sure if they would be able to "find" each other automatically being on different subnets. Any thoughts on that?

Another thought, later if i wanted to add another location into my VPN, would i just have to set up routes to each subnet on each pfsense box? this could get extremely messy if i had multiple locations though..

ooo! one more thing, pfsense supports IPSec, OpenVPN and PPTP. What would be the best to use?

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and help me out!

The easiest way is, to setup the same net on both sides. E.g. 172.16.1.x/24.
For the VPN, you need a transfer net, e.g. 192.168.0.x/24, as a tunnel for the 172.16.1.x net.

OpenVPN works fine for that.
