I am new to Windows Server 2003 (SE) and just cannot get a VPN connection working. I have followed the setup wizard on the server (Server2003) and client (XP). When attempting to connect from the client it shows connecting to the static IP address of the router, then when it trys the user name and password after a period it comes up with error 721. I have a WPN824 Router and set the port forwarding for Port 1723 to the server IP address (192.168.1.4), as well as setting the NAT filtering to OPEN.

On the server I think I have set up the remote access policies correctly. In the computer management I have set up a client to be a member of he DHCP users and granted remote access permission for the DHCP users in the remote access policies.

On the server machine I can access the internet through internet explorer.

Is it something silly like the router? Please help

Start locally before you go across the net if possible.

See this for starts. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/837453

And here. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/...

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
