VPN established but can't access netwrk drive

January 13, 2010 at 10:38:25
Specs: Windows XP
I've established a VPN connection from my home to my Office LAN. At my office I have a w2k3 server hosting a network drive that I already have mapped out and accessible while at work. I cannot access it from home via VPN. I can print over VPN to our networked office printer; see other's shared folder but can't access the server's shared drive. Any thoughts?? More details: local LAN ip is Remote LAN is Remote server is 2k3. Local client: Cisco QuickVPN. VPN established with Cisco WRVS4400N Router.

What happens when you try and access the share?

I get an error window: "An error occurred while reconnecting Z: to \\SERVERNAME\SHAREDFOLDER Microsoft Windows Network : The network path was not found. This connection has not been restored.
Earlier I said I could print from remote location to office network printer. Actually, I cannot print. I can get into the printer's (HP) web interface and even scan a document. I used a program to scan my office's LAN. I can retrieve Host Names and MAC's from most of the PC's. The program has identified the server's hostname, IP, Username but oddly enough the MAC is shown as 00:00:00:00:00:00. The printer's MAC is also shown as: 00:00:00:00:00:00.
