Hi, I'm currently looking into a VPN solution for my office but need some assistance.

We have a ADSL connection (AT&T/All-Stream) with a static IP. 216.x.x.x. Currently, I have a Linksys router providing DHCP for the network (192.168.x.x). I'm looking at the Symantec VPN Applicance 360R to replace this Linksys Router and also gain VPN capabilities. Sounds simple enough, BUT, the WAN address on my Linksys Router is not the 216.x.x.x public IP but a 10.x.x.x IP. My guess is that the ADSL modem has its own DHCP giving out addresses for 10.x.x.x. Since I do not have access to modify the settings on the modem (AT&T/All-Stream device), how can I get the VPN connections to reach my Symantec VPN Router? If I were to call up AT&T/All-Stream, what should I be requesting? A port forward?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Regards,
DK

Personally I prefer SonicWall routers for VPN's. Only required one side to be static [though having both sides static is easier]

Sounds like AT&T is bridging your ADSL connection. You may have to request a public ip address from them. Call them and ask.

Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.
