virtual machine router's involvement

November 20, 2010 at 22:34:52
Specs: Windows Vista
Say i have two physical machines connected to the router. ( machine A and B) On machine A a virtual machine is running( machine AC)

If i transfer a file between machine A and B the file should go through the router. But if i transfer a file between machine A and AC does the file go through the router?

Probably not. Why would it. The computer is aware both are virtual machines that exist on the same hardware platform.

If each were on a different subnet, then you'd need a router in between that had static routes between subnets.

I am the captain of my soul.
