Hey All,

I am looking to hear from Satellite Internet users who have ever tried live video over that connection. As short as possible I'll explain. My wife is an Interpreter of ASL for those who are Deaf and she needs a connection good enough to be able to sign with minimal delay over two-way video.

Here is a little info relevant to the discussion: http://www.attvrs.com/help/faqs.asp

I understand no matter what there will always be some latency involved. But there is a wireless Internet alternative available to our house at 256Kbps or faster, so would that be the way to go for video? (this is in Bozeman, MT, where there are very few ISP’s worth anything).

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from anyone who can help.
Chuck

Some friends or ours are out in the sticks. There are two main systems that have good download and good upload. One is rather expensive and used more my day traders. The other I have used a bit at the ranch with limited sucess. Never got time to really fool with it, went home and uploaded on dsl.

Now I do know that you might have in your area a different type of isp. They used to have a wireless cable tv system out. Many of those were bought up by isp's. They service odd areas and here they provide real good up and down speeds and static ip's. They usually are very small companies and very hard to find out about. Only clues are sometimes you see the antenna. It is a line of site system.

Don't forget that there might be high speed wireless data via big phone companies too if you are close enough.

256k isn't all that hot.

Personally I'd look into Satellite TV, you can get Satellite Internet WITH it, speeds for that are about 768k.
