Hi I have a couple of machines and I would like them both to be on the Internet at the same time. I was wondering if a person could use a router with a dial up connection? Or if there's another way to share a dial up connection. ....and no I don't have access to any high speed. Thanks alot!
can you use those splitters so u can plug two phone lines in?

With an external modem that connects (to PC or router) via ethernet cable (does such a product exist?), no problem.
With an internal modem you can do what you want, with or without a router, with Internet Connection Sharing. But, I think ICS is a Windows XP only feature.

You can use a router with dial up but you need a router specifically designed for dial up, and because of their rarity, are horrendously expensive even if you could find one. The routers used on DSL and cable will not work on dial up.
The only other alternative is to set up Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) in software. To to this you designate one computer with the modem plugged into is as the host and set up ICS on that. You then configure the other machine to use the host machine as an Internet Gateway.
Look up ICS in the Windows 98 Help files for detailed instructions on how to set up ICS.
