HI
I have a query to see if there’s anyway to get the following working?
I use my mobile phone to access the internet though a Sony DCU-60 USB cable on the main pc seen as though BT want an extortionate amount to hook us up!!! I have a choice of either a Micradigital Wireless router or Netgear wireless modem/router.
Is their a way to broadcast the internet signal being received through the mobile into the pc back through the router to broadcast the internet around the house?
IS their a way to set the network up to broadcast this signal in a wireless network setup even though its not broadband and also its being received through usb port and not an RJ port?
I believe if you setup ICS on the PC and then cable the NIC to the Router WAN Port it should suffice, though Mobile broadband is lacking in bandwidth.... just try it and let us know!
I was thinking of different ways as the sony ericsson network adaptor/drivers that was supplied by sony isn't exactly the most stable of connection.
As for bandwidth its not too bad. Its faster than dialup and considering i haven't got a landline its faster than my broadband connection was at my previous address!!! about 2mbps+ as I'm only about 200 metres away from the main mast!
You need to set up Inernet Connection sharing on the phone's network connection to work with your local area connection. Then plug in an ethernet cord from the computer's LAN connection into the WAN port on the router, and it should work fine.
Do you know how to setup ICS?
And yes, as someone said before.. It's going to be slow.
