How can I customize a user profile which can be used as a default user profile for domain users?

When a user logs on as a local user for the first time the profile is created by using the local default user profile right? What happens when a domain user logs on for the first time on a computer? How will it know what to put when it creates that profile ? Same thing for a Roaming Profile, how will it customize the profile when a user logs on for the first time ? How can I customize a User Profile through Active Directory for Domain Users?
