Comment: Hey guys! I have some problem connecting to the internet thru a USB cable modem..here's the scenario: A cable modem (Motorola SB4100) with its ethernet port connected to a router where 3 computers get their internet access from (no problem here..) Since my computer has no ethernet port, ive been using the modem's USB connection and ive installed it successfully..a new lan connection appears under my network places/neighborhood. OK, heres my problem..what's next? ive already tried the ipconfig /release and /renew but im still not getting internet access..

Reply: (edit)wuts up? probably a dns error, either that or itz usin sumthin else other than your usb wire. take outall the modems, network adapters, those stuf u dont use in device managers, or disable them. make sure usb modem is enabled n no ! sign is next to it. download usb drivers at motorola site if ther is, n if stil doesent work, ur gonna hav to mess with registry. Start -> Run -> regedit -> hkey local machine -> system -> currentlocalset -> services -> find winsock 2 n delete it. it shuld pop up back again when u reboot, and your internet settings would be "set to defualt". then try again. good luck ,

Reply: (edit)Were you able to find a solution to your problem. The reason I ask is I have a motorola sb 4200 modem and have the same problem when using the USB port. My computer just sends a big error telling me that its shut down windows XP to prevent damage to the computer
