Sorry for the screwed up message.

What I want is to setup the printer to use a static ip number so all the computers can print to it.

How do i setup up the computer using a static ip address for printing and also have the other 5 computers print to this parrallel port using the static ip from the computer hosting the printer with the parrallel port ieee-1284 !!!

If all the printer has is a parrallel port you cannot give it an IP address. You need a network print server for that.

To make the printer available to the other computers you set it up as a local printer on one computer and designated as a shared printer.

You then install the printer on all the other computers as a network printer. With this set up, the host computer must be turned on for the other computers to use the printer.

If you want to use the printer independant of any host computer to need to get a Network Printe Server. This is a little box the the printer plugs into and the box plugs into your hub/sitch via a Cat5 Ethernat cable. You can the allocate the printer its own IP address within the same range as all the other computers.
