I have verizon dsl, westell wirespeed modem, linksys router, and a couple xp computers & linux.
Some reason where ever I go to check speed my download is way slower then my upload.
Down is in the 500's up in the 700's.
The other day I unplugged the dsl modem for overnite and the next morning it shot back up to 2.6mb. It keeps slowing back down on download while upload always remains in the 700's.
Verizon says their line is fine and it's in my setup. I don't get this as I can direct wire my modem to my pc and get same speed results. Unplugging the modem seems to be the key thing or am I one sided and missing something?

I'd ask for a new modem no matter what verizon says then.
I keep all my computer stuff turned off and with a power strip. You could start doing that and save electricity and in some small way the earth.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

you could try going to dslreports.com and doing a tweek test, and a line test, both under tools...just to verify
your setup is ok....

I've done a tweak test and done what they suggested but didn't make any difference.
I just signed up so I can do a line test. I'll post back later with results of it.
line test history. I don't really know what to make of it.http://www.dslreports.com/testhisto...
