Analaysation of the problem 1. When i use sniffers on my network i find that there is a IP "192.168.1.255" existing on my network which connects to all the machines in my network and tranfers data particularly during startup. 2. I am able to notice that this particular unknown IP (which i have not assigned to any of my machines) when pinged replies in less that 10ms (as all other computers in my LOCAL NETWORK) do. 3. When i try to ping this specific ip the ping is redirected to my internet router (ADSL router). 4. When i use tracert the particular IP, i find that there is no other IPs inbetween my machine and the "Unknown" ip.
5. I even doubt losing passwords on my network but i am not sure this is a trojan since i have scannes the machines with the latest antivirus definitions.
Pls. help me find out what that is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Assuming you are using a 'C' class network of 192.168.1.0 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, the IP 192.168.1.255 is your network broadcast address. If a resource wants to send a packet to all other resources on the network it addresses it to the broadcast address.
