I was scanning our Network, and noticed either a new domain name or workgroup in My Network Places. I beleive someone must have brought in an outside computer and plugged it in behind our Firewall. My question is, how can I see what this is? I would like to see what IP it is using and also see what computer name it has. I need to tell someone to get it off the Network. Thanks for any help!

Look at what computers are in there, and ping them. Use the IP, and track it down to the switch port if you have a managed switch. If you don't, you're a bit screwed.

If you ping and get an address try also using nbtstat in the form of:
nbtstat -A {ip address}
or if you have a hostname already use this version:
nbtstat -a {host name)
You'll get a little more information like a user name that's logged in. Maybe the name will be a close match to someone in your office except if it's logged in as administrator of course.
The grass may not be greener on the other side . . . but it just might have less weeds. :-D

And also limit machines that can connect to your network by configuring DHCP and DNS. That way, unless the ethernet address has been confirmed and validated, the machine will not receive an IP address.
