Unable to Renew IP

October 22, 2009 at 19:47:11
Specs: Windows XP
I've been wrestling with this for a few hours now. My other computer is unable to renew its IP address. At first I tried resetting both my Router/Modem and restarting, as well as trying other Ethernet Cables and the different Ports in the Router.

That failed to help and I was stuck with the 169.XXX IP. I then tried disabling APIPA. Now when trying to Renew IP I get the Following Message
"An Error occured when renewing interface level Local Area Connection : Unable to contact your DCHP Server. Request has timed out"

This of course made me scratch my head as I can clearly see that my computer in my routers Dynamic DHCP Client List with both IP and MAC Address listed.

My other two computers dont seem to have this problem, as well as this problem apparently appeared overnight.

What happens if you assign a static ip [to the nic] out of the dhcp range?

so if your dhcp scope is x.x.x.100 to 150 you would give the nic x.x.x.200 for example with same subnet and gateway as the other pc.
