What you write isn't making a lot of sense to me.

Are you saying you can't connect to one machine by either ip or name?
Did you make sure remote desktop is enabled on that pc?

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you're trying too remote into another computer using RDC. Instead of putting the IP address in the "computer" field of the RDC window, you want to use the hostname and it's not working.

To be honest, I've never tried using the hostname, I always use the IP address because that will work when a hostname may not. My suggestion is, add an entry into the hosts file on your PC for the computer you wish to connect to. Then you should be able to use the hostname forever after.

It's worth noting however that once you've entered an IP and successfully connected to a remote computer, that IP stays available in the pulldown menu on the RDC window thus eliminating the need to enter it in again manually.

Sorted out how?

It would be great for you to include that information as it might just help somebody else searching this site for the same issue at some point in the future.
