I have a IBM laptop with intel centrino.I have win xp professional.
I am using wireless network to connect to interent.
My office has given me a url to remotely connect to office system. When I try to connect that site I get message page can not be displayed. I am unable to ping that machine also.
One day i inastalled Update for Windows XP Service Pack 2 (KB884020) on my machine and I was able to connect and work.

But again I am getting the same problem and unable to connect. i have Mcafee,MSN,Skype,Download accelator as some additional utilities running.
Can anybody give some idea.

It is possible you have no access to a DNS service that can "translate" the URL for you. You need an IP address for the site.

Addendum:

You can test this by using the command line utility ping.

ping your_URL

If it says host cannot be found, it is a DNS issue. get the IP address for the site.
