Unable to connect to computer

I am trying to connect to a computer on my network that I have previously been able to access. I search for the IP address, double click and get a security dialog box that asks for my username and password, all normal, except that it will not accept any username or password (all of which I have confirmed to be correct). Other users have no problems with the same procedure which leads me to believe something may be wrong with my security settings. I know this may be a wide field but are there any likely culprits?

Sounds like you have already tried this but I would do the obvious things first. On the box that you’re trying to log into make sure that you have been given the correct permissions. I would make sure that your logging into the correct workgroup or domain and again double check to make sure you have the correct login and password, change it if you have to. If you have a software firewall up and running turn it off to see if that could be the culprit.
Have you tried mapping a drive to the other computer?

The username and password are universal and I have had them confirmed and even tried variations to be sure. When I try to map the drive the same thing happens. On this network we are not members of a domain so I checked on the workgroup which is simply workgroup. I have tried logging in with my firewall off and no difference. I can browse the internet and even login with novell to access network printers but I still can't access this computer (used for network file sharing). I seem to be the only user with this problem. Is there anything in my security profile that would prevent me from accessing the computer?
