Here is my setup:
My house is wired for cat5. I have a wired dynex router that is connected to my cable modem. connected to this router are the various rooms in my house. connected to one of the rooms in my house is a dlink di524 wireless router so that my laptops can connect wirelessly. i have a pc running windows xp that is wired to the network through the dynex router and three laptops running vista connected wirelessly to the dlink router. the workgroup is the same for all four computers. the laptops that connect to the network wirelessly can see each other and share files and printers with each other. however, the pc that is wired to the network cannot see any of the laptops nor can any of the laptops see the pc. my dynex wired router is upstairs and the wireless router is downstairs so i am unable to connect the pc to the dlink router wired or wireless. is there anyway that all 4 computers can share files and printers without having to connect my pc to the dlink router?

I bet you have DHCP running on both routers each on a separate subnet. If put the wireless router in place of the dynex, wouldn't it cover all PCs, wired and wireless? In most cases 2 routers aren't needed.

Your setup should look like this:

i turned dhcp off the wireless router but i am still unable to share my files and printers between computers connected to the two different routers. i am unable to use just one router due to the location of my wired hub for my house and the range of the wireless router i use.

So you shut DHCP on the wireless router but what about the subnet(s)? How is the wireless router connected to the wired router?

what part of the netgear diagram for two routers did you have an issue with? There should only be one ip subnet since the second router is just acting as a wireless AP and switch.
'tis the season to be of good cheer. Wishing one and all happy times with family and friends.
