I have connected two pc's to XP's home network. Each computer can see the other however, the client computer cannot access the Internet through the host's 56 k dial-up.

Have you setup Internet Connection Sharing on the host computer and configured the Internet connection for sharing as well as designated the host computers IP address as the default gateway and default DNS on the client computer.
Stuart

I have gone into IE/Tools/Internet Options/Connections and enabled sharing.
Where do I set the other settings?
I have gone into the dial up properties for the client and the advanced screen for tcp/ip properties has been set to use the default gateway on remote network.

Its not the diale up properties you need, its the Local Area Connection properties. You can delete any dialup connection on the client. You do not need it as the host does all the dialing.
You need to set the default gateway to the IP address of the host computer. At the moment there is no default gateway as there is no internet connection on the client.

I am still having problems.
Do I enter the SBC ppp IP address, subnet mask, and gateway or the Ethernet settings?

I have set to the Ethernet settings. The host computer has a 1 ending and I set the client to a 2 ending in the IP address. Since the gateway is the 1 ending I used that as the gateway on the client.
Still no go.

I'm out of ideas then. The only other thing to do is to run the Network Setup Wizard and see if that does anything. All that will do is the same as I have already suggested. It will set the client up to use DHCP from the host which in itself can be problamatic.
But give it a try.
Just on other thing. You are not running Zone alarm are you? If so that needs to be configured as well or it will cause problems.
Stuart

I am not using Zone Alarm but am using XP's firewall. I have disabled it and redialed but still do not get the Internet.
For what it is worth. About five days ago, I had the host and client reversed and everything worked fine.

go to www.homenethelp.com, there is a section there on setting up XP pcs for internet access. Al
