hi,
i have a dilema, i have 2 network cards, one of them is my internet connection coming from the cable modem so it has an external ip 69.17... etc the other one comes from my router and it has an internal ip 192.168.1.105 my router is also connected to my cable modem the problem is that both of these network cards provide me with internet access, i want to use on of them only for lan the one with 192.168.1.105 and the one connected via hub to cable modem just for internet, is this possible in windows xp pro?
thanks in advance

Actually I would ask why you would have your pc directly connected to the modem so you are completely exposed to internet hackers/trojans.
If you want LAN WAN separation you should connect modem to router. Router to nic1 for internet. Nic2 connects to hub which connects your LAN.
This would be the proper setup.
BTW your present configuration with the direct to modem connect LEAVES YOU WIDE OPEN FOR HACKERS AND TROJANS TO INFECT YOUR PC. IT MAY ALREADY BE TOO LATE.
Sometimes I need to be loud so you get that the point is serious and no bull.
Golly gee wilerkers everyone. Learn to Internet Search

i know this already, the whole story is, i buil t a home theater pc downstairs using my wireless network, so all the files are being served from the computer with the two network cards, i just wanted one card to be used for the lan, and the other card to have access thorught the internet, i would know how to do this in linux, but in windows i have no clue, thanks in advance
