two network cards on one machine

Specs: Windows XP
i have two network cards on my machine,the inbuild on the board and a wireless D-link PCI card.I tried to uninstall and unplug the D-link so that i can use the onboard ethernet,but it is telling me the IP address is asigned to the wireless card.what can i do to remove any trace of the uninstalled wireless card

First, open the property sheet on "My Network Places" (right click on the icon and select Properties)

Now, right click on the wireless NIC and select "Disable".

Ensure the onboard NIC is enabled (right click and select "Enable" if it's disabled right).

reread the messsage. It is making a statement and then gives you the option to proceed. Do so.

I run wired and wireless on a laptop but I connect to the same router using the same static assigned ip to both interfaces.

You will get this informative message even with a nic disabled when doing your ip assignment for the first time.
