I have a network printer that's directly connected to my laptop through the ethernet connection. I'm trying to get on the internet at the same time, using the wireless card, but it doesn't seem to work. only one of them works at the same time. If the printer is connected, the wireless doesn't work, but as soon as I unplug the ethernet cable the internet works. It makes me think that the TCP/IP settings of the printer are not set right. Here is how I have them set up:

On the Printer:
IP address: 172.16.2.120
Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
Default gateway: 172.16.2.1

Ethernet Card:
IP address: 172.16.2.119
Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
Default gateway: 172.16.2.1

Wireless card obtains an IP address automatically, but the working settings are:
IP address: 192.168.2.191
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.2.1

Use only one "Default gateway".
If you are connectiong to the Internet by using the Wireless cat, 192.168.2.1 must be the default gateway.
The printer should work without setting a default gateway for that network, because the printer is in the same network as the Ethernet card you're using.

The gateway is a problem! also they are on separate networks with different subnets?
