Hi
I share my internet with my uncle in the next flat through cable connections and i need another connection for my laptop but his modem or switch whatever he says it is has no more slots left
so if I get a new modem and connect it with my pc and run a cable to my laptop using the same internet . so its like our own modems but same internet connection.will it work???kezia

If you are running a Cable from next door, buy yourself a Router, this goe on the cable and your PC/Laptop are connected to the Router:
Internet
>
Uncles Modem
>
Router
>
Your PC/Laptop's

Decide which it is as they are two completely different pieces of equipment. You can have as many switches as you want, but only one Modem. You need a router though to share an Internet connection and these usually come with a four port switch built in.

so does this mean i need to buy a router and 2 sets of cables as the existing cable with the internet from next door will connect with the router and 2 other cables to connect to my pc and laptop.is that it
