trouble with networks

Specs: Windows XP
my laptop keeps trying to connect to a different network. no matter what i do even if i disconnect the network and try mine it goes back to the other network

There's a chance Windows may be overriding whatever your preferred network is. Giving priority to the other network so to speak..

See what happens if you deselect the "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" option. You'll need to right click on the Wireless Networks tab and go to Properties to get to that option.

You might have to manually enter your desired network and force Windows to use only that.
