Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, 1.832 GHz / 255 MB
A couple days ago my router was hacked. (Asmax AR-904u ADSL2+, AV-Avast home, firewall-comodo, XP SP3 home)I thought the pc wasn't right so I did a system restore. No connection so I default the router, uninstalled and installed by router cd again and re-did the router's webpage. I thought I fixed the problem but now the second pc (xp SP3 home)connected to the router will not work correctly. When I go online the other pc is stopped connecting. When the other pc goes online my pc is stopped connecting. We have not had this problem before. The second pc could not go online at all until he did ipconfig /release and then renew. I've run anti-virus scans and find nothing so far. The second pc is school and game related. Mine is home and some business. I know the router is cheap but has been working fine. I'm a middle aged newbie and could use your help.

What makes you think that the router was hacked? Did you change the default user name and password after that? Most people don't.

If DHCP is not giving IP addresses properly, use static IPs. It's not hard with only 2 PCs. I have 5 PCs and I never use DHCP.
