This is how my Internet is set up:
I connect to the net via my wireless modem inside my pc on the network belonging to the coffee shop which is downstairs. I am trying to connect to that internet connection with my xbox 360 by hooking up an ethernet cable to my pc.
This is the problem:
When I try to "share connection" in the properties advanced menu for my wireless net work I get an IP address conflict. I've tried changing IP address on my computer but that doesn't work.
What am I doing wrong? Is it possible I won't be able to do this unless some setting or another downstairs in the coffee shop is changed?
thanks in advance,
-Alexander

By desiegn internet connection sharing uses:
Host 192.168.0.1
Client 192.168.0.2If the Coffe Shop Router is using the same address range you will get a conflict, therefore change the Router Settings..

Just my 2 cents but............wireless totally sucks for gaming. If you want to enjoy your gaming experience I highly recommend you get your own internet connection and a SOHO router with 4 LAN ports and plug your xbox into it.

It's not possible to change the router settings because it is located in the coffee shop and I can't ask them to do that for me.

I would suspect they wouldn't be happy with you hooking up your game console to their network either.

So it sounds like this is impossible then?
--actually I don't want to play games over the internet, I'm only interested in downloading some arcade games that are acquired on xbox live only--

No it certainly is possible. Problem here is we don't know if you have the cafe's permission to be using their network as you are and we are not to advise doing things that may have morality issues involved. You know like recommending a cracked version of software or how to go around network security

You need analogx's free proxy or another type of application that is better suited than ICS.
ICS is very limited product.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10

f I'm honest enough to admit it's a cafe, who's owner happily shares their internet with me since I've been a customer for almost two years I don't see why not? I could have just lied about it in the first place and told you it was in my apartment complex or a circumstance of that nature.

Also, Wireless does not suck. If you configure it correctly it is great for gaming. I have been using wireless for 3+ years now for gaming... and I compete at a high level of competition.
