Trace users’ activities and block internet connection

Specs: Windows Server 2008 R2

We’ve got Workgroup LAN at our office and the Server is configured by the OS “Windows Server 2008 R2”. Most of the users use OS “Windows XP-Service Pack-2”.

Now, I want to see the Internet surfing status/activities done by any particular user/users at any time from the Server. You know that, some people enter into restricted sites which impose severe negative impact on the network. If I could trace from the Server any user of doing this, I shall block his Internet connection from the Server.

Would you please let me know, how above can be done by myself?

Thanks & Regards

This is a two fold issue. One is that you don't have a well designed firewall to protect your lan. You should block all sites and protocols at the server. If needed buy or build a layer 7+ firewall.

Windows server allows you to remote into desktops and view connections. Might be possible to monitor using wireshark and use search words to the computer.
