I'm running a FreeNAS server for all of my music and I want to be able to browse it from my iPhone. My phone is jailbreak'd and I've installed a package to allow it to access local/local network files, so no worries there.
The problem is that the MobileSafari app can only access files, and not browse directories. That means I need to make an HTML index of all of the files on my server.
I'd like something that would include directories, and not just files. For example, an html index for each directory in the server, and a root index that would link to the files in the root directory, and the other index files for each other directory.
Basically like browsing local files in Firefox.
I could be looking in the complete wrong direction, because perhaps there is an iPhone app for this.
Also, I'm probably not in the right section, someone call me out on it if I'm not.

Might consider ISCSI if you don't want to use ftp.
See if file://drive works. Might have to use more slashes. file:/// or file:////
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
