Comment:
Trying to put the Toshiba Notebook Tecra A9 on the work network, but i keep getting a Network Cable Unplugged error. The Workgroup Name is correct and same as others. All IP setting are set to Auto(as per other Pc's).
Cable works fine on other Pc's.
All settings are identical to other Pc's. What other variable could be not allowing a connection ?

Are you setting it to obtain an IP through DHCP? If so, have you registered the MAC and NetBios name on your DHCP server?

Thank you for the reply Jennifer, "have you registered the MAC and NetBios name on your DHCP server?" I added the Laptop Mac Address to the DHCP Server list, with the same result. It is as if the cable were not plugged in, but it is. And works fine on another PC when plugged to it.
Strange....

Check the laptop's IP by using ipconfig /all at a command prompt to make sure it has a valid address for your network. If not, you might try assigning it a static IP (one that is not being used by any other device on the network) and see if you can connect then.
