From what i can tell the free modem from tiscali plugs into a free usb port on a caomputer but i plan to use a broadband router so is it possible to connect it to a broadband router? as the one i have now uses ethernet and not usb i have tried to find a picture or information on the free tiscali modem with no success. Also will tiscali allow you to split a broadband connection as it does not say on there site or i cant find it. any help greatly appreciated

You'd have to use the modem (a Sagem 800, I understand) direct into USB. I don't know whether you could use the router without it's DSL connection just as a network switch to share the internet connection using the USB-connected modem. I use a USB modem and a network hub for Tiscali 'net sharing. Perhaps others can comment. If you could, you'd not need secondary IP addresses from Tiscali - I've not seen them advertise such a service, but you could email Tiscali support?
