OK now i know im not going mad.

Alright, i ran a speed test again just after reboot and i got 2130kbs download and 230 upload.

I then re done the test seconds later and only got 550 kb download and 200 upload.

What could be causing this massive loss in up/download in just 5 seconds of testing? it makes no sence to me

Reasons:
#1 your broadband is shared and as such is subject to periods of overload.
#2 your pc is infected and sending information back out to the internet
#3 your nic is being timesliced by the system to support other processes.

Give me a little more time or input from others to come up with some more reasons.

Look. This whole upload/download is relative. You are going to a test site. If a bunch of other people did the same thing at the same time don't you think it would slow it down for everyone?

Same is true for downloads. You may get a good site that did mirror servers on multiple internet backbones which makes your downloads great. Or you may get the computer-in-the-garage web site and downloads aren't great.

Add to that; everthing else in between.

All this factors into what you actually get for bandwidth.

Talk to your ISP. Not unreasonable to request a line test and if possible to see a printed report. Never expect the advertized up and down. That has been my experience.

Are you ready for where Microsoft wants you to go today?
