What is the switch`s brand and model exactly. Does this problem occure on a specific switch port, or a specific computer?

Is this an 8-port switch? If so, the 8th port may be an uplink port. Some switches have a tab that can make the uplink port a standard port. To see if it is the computer or the cable, plug in the computer to a different port on the switch (of course, you will need to unplug one of the other ones). If it works in another port, there is something going on with the 8th port.

I think rain3d has got the right answere there.

If the 8th port is an uplink port and there is no way to switch it to a standard port, using a crossover cable in that port should work. If you do decide to use a crossover cable, put a lable on it so you know what it is othrwise it could cause you problems in the future if you get them confused.

2 ports has been bound in trunk mode. This is a managed switch, then just modify the port setup.

In fact, this switch does not have uplink port, however up to 4 port may be bound in trunk mode for a 800Mbps uplink...

You have a very good switch

Is your duplexing mode on the switch set right ex. auto, full, half... Does it match the computer...
