Everything was going fine until last night I was access a file from one of the win 98 computers on the winXP did some work on it then it went funny. I had to restart my computer. When I restarted it a message come say that windows XP had incounted a serious error report it to Microsoft, I said no. the computer finished loading. I then tried to access computers on my network but got the following message "(computers name and Path) is not accessible. you might not have permission to use this network resource, contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found." I have restarted the computers I have turned the switch of , I have check the properties of the network everything seems ok. The other computers can talk to each other just not XP . I need help fast Cap

"Network path not found" in a workgroup network - error 53

RESOLUTIONS:
1) Make sure that File and Printer Sharing is enabled on on the shared computer.
2) Make sure that shared machine has something shared.
3) Make sure that you have created the same workgroup and logon the same username if you try to access w2k/xp network.
4) Make sure that you have enabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP if this is a mixed OS network.

I'm having a similar problem, only my network consists of only 2 computers (again, the host with winME and the other with 98).

It has happened once before, only it corrected itself after a few days when it crashed again. But I would like to know a way to get it working again without having to wait for it to crash again.

As for NetBios, I don't know. Could you make your link a little more specific? Also, if someone can give me a solution in the form of "click this then click that", I would be greatful, as i'm no good at following instructions like: "Modulate this then make sure port 122431 is open"

File and printer sharing are enabled on both. They are using the same Workgroup.
