Older IBM netinfinity 5500 server running WinNT4 server with Veritas Backup Exec server edition 8.60 rev 3878 with "Agent for MS Exchange 2000 Server" installed.
This setup has been working flawlessly for a long time. Now, however, it is failing each time. The job log entry is:
The Exchange Store service is not responding. Backup set canceled.
^ ^ ^ ^ ^exchange 5.5 server,
I am able to change tapes ok, inventory, erase, etc; I am able to set up and successfully other data jobs.I checked and all of the exchange server services are running. I restarted all of them. But still no good backup
The backup exec remote agent for windows NT/2000 is failing with dr.wutson "beremote.exe"
after i restart the service the backup job running o.k for one time and then keep fails
.Does anyone have any ideas of how I may further troubleshoot this issue?
Would uninstalling/reinstalling the current exec 8.6 software will help?
Is there an update/service pack I might need to install?

Go to Veritas web site and see if they have any updates.
You say that your using the Agent for Exchange 2000 but then your say your using Exchange 5.5, which one is it? Make sure you have the correct agent installed for your environment.

Before it stopped working did you install anything on the client or backup server that could have caused any network problems (firewall, service pack, etc....)
