I have been searching around the net for wireless security testing programs for my wireless connection. I currently use a linksys wireless-B router and wireless network card. There are other linksys routers/wireless cards around my neighboorhood that are in use. Recenlty there has been someone around my neighboorhood trying to connect to my wireless connection. I'm not upset about this I just want to make sure they cant change my routers settings. Also I am not going to report them or anything I dont feel like going through the hassel of doing that. I'd like a program to test my password on my wireless router to make sure it wont be cracked. I know you can always reset the router itself but that becomes a pain to redo all the settings over again. I shouldnt have to do this. Is there a way to "lock" the linksys router so only people with a password can connect? Thanks.

Before they can get to your password is SSID broadcast disabled, encryption enabled, and MAC address filtering enabled?

Enable WPA encryption. WEP is the next best thing to useless (our security guy at work cracked it in under 30 minutes).

How did you find out that someone was connecting to your router? I'd like to know how to do that myself.

For the first few posters. ok i'll try that. but i still want a program that can crack my routers password. and for the other post, it will be in your routers settings page. for me i have to put Http://192.168.2.1/ in my browser then i put my user n pass go to settings then open up status. then i click on dhcp clients table. there is shows a list of computers connected to your network.

Are you going to crack your router wired or wireless? It makes a big difference.

If you set SSID, encryption, and mac filtering, that is more layers to get through before the password itself. I don't know what the response time of the router, but I'm sure you can't test by throwing all the combinations without some time delay between.
